Excited. Raspberry Magic was shot in Oakland, California, about 50 minutes away from where I live. I think that it's so exciting when annual cinematic film/art festivals happen near where I live (which reminds me that the Cinequest Film Festival downtown is coming so soon again and I am super psyched to go with Tiffany and/or Vu this year), especially the ones that are shot in familiar local surroundings and the ones that are shot in foreign countries. I was just reading about the cast members of this movie and some of them are from Community, Disney's Shake It Up, and Weeds. I thought that was very interesting. I just love it when typical actors and actresses play exceptionally astonishing roles that not even they themselves would ever expect to play, with the result of making something spectacular by the end of their acts. I hope I will get to see this film someday even if I don't make the local premiere because a) I really like raspberries and b) it just doesn't seem like the kind of film that I would want to pass up.
Over the weekend, I watched 3 Idiots, a Bollywood comedy film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. I thought it was shockingly hilarious and a really good foreign film all in all. So if any of you bloggers have time, all 16 parts with English subtitles are loaded on Youtube.com. Today, Jennifer finally helped me get the movie Gandhi, and I paid close attention to the lengthy scenes until I passed the two hour mark of the three hour film. Right now, in Social Problems, we are currently studying the concepts of social responses, and it just so happens that Gandhi is the most suitable film to watch to apply the concepts to because of the whole significant non-violent resistant acts and motives Gandhi held. So I've been rewinding and stopping an awful lot of times out of the two hours tonight to jot down the concepts and justify them correctly; all of it was well worth my time though because I just enjoy watching movies that are specifically shot in India for some reason. Maybe it's the fact that I just love the flamboyant cloth fabrics, materials, and unique designs that they create and sell in India.
In Gandhi, the sceneries were just so beautifully shot that they made me want to visit India even more than before. Though in general, all foreign films win my heart over when they capture and project specific stunning striking sceneries onto the big screens. I just love natural features of earthy environments because when they are captured on film, they just tend to give the audience innate mindsets and novel inspirations. It would be my dream to travel around the world.
