Nada Surf-Always Love
I really am a lucky girl. I get to work with the best special ed kids on campus; I get to see them everyday, hang out with them, make art, go to their holiday dances, attend their sports tournaments, and go on fun-filled community field trips with them. There's really nothing more I should ask for because I am blessed to be surrounded by such a beautiful, beautiful set of kids. Today, we sat in Khaled's dad's limo and caught a ride to the Princess Project about 20 minutes away from school. There, there were many approachable friendly volunteers and caring workers who greeted us with warm welcomes. Entering a spacious warehouse of various kinds of princess-like dresses, it truly was a dream come true for many of the girls because they were just jumping with glee and clapping with joy when they found out that they could choose any dress they wanted in the warehouse for free. Lucky me, I even got to choose a prom dress for the special ed prom for myself because one of the teachers put me down on the list earlier without me knowing. So that was really surprising and exciting because it felt so unreal that right then and there, at that very spot, there were these giving people who so openly came together to organize all the hundreds of gorgeous colorful dresses and plan out something truly amazing for those in need. I thought the whole event was just really inspiring and amazing today. One day, I honestly hope to become a volunteer myself, in events like Princess Project itself, to fulfill the dreams of those who come from low-income backgrounds, and help them become the beautiful princesses that they deserve to be with stunning princess-like dresses on their own special days. After all, I do believe that every girl deserves to have her own fairy tale happy ending.
