monday morning blogroll

Every time we finish off a week long break, the Monday of, feels like the first day of school to me-exciting and magnetic.

Backtrack:

Saturday, February 19, 2011: Murder Mystery Night was supposedly this National Honor Society event that the NHS officers put together to raise and pay off money for the club. If anyone has ever played the lengthy, but mysterious, mystifying game of the board game Clue, that's how the event pretty much worked. It was like a live event all together. The NHS members with the feathers in their hair were trained to be live witnesses, standing in their designated spots outside the building, while the drama department put together the mystery on stage for the first half of the show. The second half of the show was letting the audience themselves find out which member of the cast killed the body, by going outside with maps and lists of people's names, weapons, and motives. Overall, it was a really interesting and entertaining event that I've ever been in and to for the first time ever, so I think Jeremy did a really fantastic job organizing and putting through with it. He most definitely is the best suitable NHS President we could ever have.

Sunday, February 20, 2011: So after the Murder Mystery Night, I spent the rest of the first weekend at my grandma's house. She had just fired her worker because her worker kept eating her food and being a couch potato chatting on the phone with her chit chatty friends. That was something that was unacceptable, so I tried spending more time there with her to do what she needed me to do. The rest of the weekend was very mellow, because I spent it just reading and working on more party favors for my birthday party.

Monday, February 21, 2011: I helped my dad set up the big tent in my small living room, for my project band camp. That took us about an hour to figure out because we lost the piece of paper, but we made it through. I started feeling a little light-headed after laying out all the patterned fabric inside and hanging the homemade decorations for awhile. I left it be until Tuesday.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011: I attempted an early hike with Vincent half way, but eventually ended up getting a ride back home from Calvin because of how sick I was feeling.

Friday, February 25, 2011: I woke up early to line up at the DMV before it opened, befriended the man behind me, and took my first written test. I didn't end up passing, but the windy day moved on. Later in the day, I picked up more supplies for my birthday party, and ordered the chocolate bouquet cake from Costco. It was my first time ordering a large cake from Costco, and I was not disappointed.

Saturday, February 26, 2011: Because I usually celebrate my birthday early every year, it always feels a little weird when I realize that my real birthday is not until later, or in this case, tomorrow. It kind of felt like the whole party was another party gathering that I planned and put together, but either way, it was just spectacular. I had invited good friends to the restaurant, and I couldn't have asked for more. The whole day was all scheduled out. I picked up my balloons in the afternoon because surely, they took about an hour to blow up 24 balloons, since there was a long line with mixed up orders. The cake was a piece of cake, literally. The bakery already had it ready even though I went an hour early to pick it up. Getting to Anne's house after to get my hair done was somewhat of a rush, but it was a happy rush, literally and metaphorically. I was within a time frame, to go home, pick up Joy, and get to the restaurant an hour and a half earlier than the time I told the guests, to decorate. Luckily I had a lot of great help from my parents, Joy, Tiffany T., and bits of Vincent and Huy's time. The pastel-easter-valentine's-day-colored-looking balloon strings were taped to the chairs and the streamers were taped to the balloons, (because they said I couldn't hang things on the walls). So the brilliant Anne came up with the idea of taping the streamers to the balloons and still be able to have streamers around somewhere. I liked that I had just enough table cloth to cover the long center table. The whole night just went amazingly smooth, because I got a chance to talk to everyone,  take fun goofy pictures with the mustache party photo frame and mustaches that I put together, and drink blue raspberry icee. Yes, that is correct, they have cherry coke, blue raspberry, and some more icee flavors at Hometown. I was shocked because I didn't know that they upgraded the drink section, after so many years (with their new coffee machine also). Spectacular. Magnificent. Cool. Despite what people say about their food, well actually, we will not go into the topic of food, but we will go into the topic of their rainbow plates. Score, Hometown has won my heart. I like colorful looking plates. I think it definitely adds more character when brought to the tables and becomes more appealing to the person eating the food.

After most of the people left, Sherry, Vu, Vincent, Michelle, Anne, Anh, Tiffany T., came back to my house and we sat in a circle in my random tent in my living room, because I had yet to take it down since Monday, February 21st. We had some real funny talks and they watched me open some of my gifts. So here I want to say that I am so thankful to have such caring and considerate friends. Thank you guys for all of the homemade cards. I adore homemade cards and creative gift wraps.

The incredible night ended with some more happy laughter and interesting topics of discussions. Overall, everything started and ended on a content note, because I had a wonderful time celebrating and bonding with everyone on the second to last day before break ended.

Sometimes, it's just nice and pleasant to remind myself that there is still a plethora of obvious reasons to keep up for in the future days to come, because there are still many, many good people out there who are most definitely worth spending valuable time with.

Much love,

Jane-before-18
