It is about 53.1 degrees with some light rain in Seattle right now. I am still in our heated hotel room trying to get the last 7 minutes of the latest Modern Family episode to load on Hulu.com. I had such an amazing day today at Seattle University. I met a lot of great people from early morning to late afternoon, went to a lot college course related discussions, listened to quite a few professors talk, explored the Honors Program, listened to the student speakers of the College of Arts and Sciences group talk about about their social life experiences, learned more about the Study Abroad programs, visited the awesome-possum book store with Katie, Callie, and Suzanne, went on a quick but fascinating campus tour, had a vege sandwich for lunch, discussed about important issues regarding Methamphetamine with current Sullivan leaders, and just lived a whole new experience outside of California in general. Colleges-- they just really know how to persuade anxious high school seniors who want to get out of their hometowns badly to come to their colleges. (Because SU has definitely got every single senior sitting in the room dying to enroll there as soon as possible). This place has similar surroundings to Berkeley, Long Beach, San Francisco, and Downtown San Jose all mixed together. It's beautiful. We were told that though there were maybe around 400-500 Sullivan selected leader participants today, we should think of this whole experience as a big life time opportunity to meet great people from different states, learn more about current issues of the topics discussed, explore new parts of the community, and find out what we like and not like. It's a shame to know that only 45 leaders can move onto the second round in February, but that's alright with me because I just experienced another once in a lifetime opportunity that I just know I could never ever forget.
